4/19/12 Blood Drive Update.

Hey Loyal Readers,

If you have read the posting for all the events of the year, you would have noticed that next week we are supposidly haveing a blood drive. Unfortunatly, we will not be having it. When we went and found out how many guarenteed people it took to get the Red Cross out here, it was way over what the intrests of whom were actually going to give blood.

 If we can get atleast 300 guarenteed people to give blood, we can have the Red Cross come here at Self Storage Depot.

4/12/12 Are you sure your covered if something happened?

This is a re-posting of one of my former blog posts. I believe that this of all my postings is the most important i have written.

On  Friday, February 10, 2012 our sister property, Hudson Self Storage, in Stockbridge GA had a major fire on property. As you can see from the picture, many units were destroyed. Damages are in the thousands of dollars.

As it turns out the Clayton County Convention and Visitor's Bureau had a 12x20 unit that was storing “highly, highly collectible” Gone With the Wind memorabilia from the Road to Tara museum, said  Frenda Turner, a vice president with the Convention and Visitors Bureau, who came to the fire scene Friday to survey the damage.

Turner said that items not currently on display at the Jonesboro museum were stored at the facility.
“We had an awful lot of items that were from the Herb Bridges collection,” Turner told the AJC. Bridges is a noted collector of memorabilia from the book and movie.“One thing that comes to mind, there were large circular poster-type boards that were used at the 1939 premier,” she said. Turner said she feared that most of the items, which she called "irreplaceable,"  were destroyed, “if not by fire, by water.”

Ok, I don't want to scare you by what happened at that facility but I want to put into perspective of what could happen here. I know from looking at the reports that many of our customers don't have insurance on file with us. Our lease does require that all the tenants have a form of insurance on file.

Some Homeowners policys cover a Storage Facility but some do not. In this case, we ask that you check your policy or call your agent. For businesses storing here, most companies business insurance policy cover Storage Facilities but if they don't we have a policy just for them.

As for our insurance, our policies are through Storsmart Insurance. Prices of the policies are very affordable. They range from $8 a month, covering $2,00, to $20 a month for $5,000 coverage. We also have a business policy that can cover more if needed.

I urge our current customers and our new to get insurance. Not just for the affordable price but for the peace of mind to know that if anything were to happen to the facility that their belongings are covered.

4/5/12 It's Almost Easter

For those in the know, Self Storage Depot is typically open 7 days a week  (9am-6pm Mon-Sat and 1-5pm Sun) but, we WILL be closed this Sunday for Easter.

3/26/12 March Auction Update


We are still haveing the auction for this month. From my first march auction blog you would have read we are haveing 3 units go up. In all actuality 2 of the tenants of the units on the docket paid up there account. So we are left with only unit 6111 going up for sale. Like before, all I can tell you is that its a 10x10 unit.

3/22/12 Annual Yard Sale

Hey Loyal Readers,

We will be having a Annual Yard Sale here on Friday & Saturday the 30th & 31st of March. Come be a BUYER or SELLER for the event. Rent a Unit to use as your Booth for only $15 or $20 for the WHOLE EVENT!! *Sizes and spaces are limited so reserve your booth today.

When renting a unit as a seller we will provide you with the space. We however will not provide you with a table to use as your cashier table. The Units will be inside one of the Unit blocks so the event will happen rain or shine.

On a side note... I dont know if we will be haveing the Yard Sale that is supposedly happening in 2 weeks. Everything is a go for Simple Simons to sell here on those days but if no one gets one of the units to sell in... there is nothing I can do.

I just wanted to give you guys a heads up on Auctions for this month. As it stands we will be having an auction here on March 27th at 1pm. The units in the docket are 216, 6004, and 6111. If you are the tenant of those units, PLEASE PAY up your current account. We don't want you to have to go to auction.



I also wanted to remind you that this coming weekend is Daylight Savings Time. Don't forget to turn your clocks 1 hour ahead on Saturday evening before you go to sleep.

2/28/12 Are you sure your covered?

2/20/12 Dont forget about the Auction.

Hey Loyal Readers,

I just wanted to remind you that on the 28th of this month, we are having an Auction of 2 units here. One of the units is an outside accessible unit while the other is an indoor unit. I personally have no idea what are in the units. All i can tell you is that one was for a business while the other was for a personal use.

For those who are curious about how we start the auction process, it is a very simple process. For the renter.. if they do not pay after 1 month for the unit we will add $100 to the balance of the account. After 2 months of non payment, the unit goes into auction. However, at any point before 1 hour before the auction is to occur, the tenant can settle all current balances. If the settlement happens, on all the units that are on the auction docket.. there is no auction, simple as that.

As for current tenants, We highly suggest that you pay on time. Rent is ALWAYS due on the 1st of every month. If paid after 6pm on the 5th of each month, we attach a $10 late fee. If paid after 6pm on the 14th of each month, we attach an additional $40 late fee. This totals to $50 in late fees if paid after 6pm on the 14th. WE WILL NOT WAIVE ANY MORE LATE FEES, so again, please pay on time.

2/13/12 Bur its cold outside

Its beginning to look a lot like Christmas... oh wait, its February. So finally the cold weather has hit Oklahoma and it has snowed. Not a big deal but it makes the business a little slow. Personally, I don't mind the snow. It just makes my commute longer.

And did I also forget to mention that today is Valentines Day Eve? We really don't have anything planed for the store tomorrow but we sure do love when people just drop in to say Hi.

Thank you for reading this. To the loyal readers I have some good news for you... We WILL BE HAVEING a auction for this month. It looks like 1 if not 2 units are going to be on the auction docket. The auction will be held February 28th at 1pm. We hope to have a good showing.

2/6/12 Happy Birthday January and February Tenants


Happy Birthday Tenants.

From year 1 to 101 it is always a blessing to celebrate a birthday. You become a year older but also a year wiser.

If you have read my last post, you would have known that we are having free cupcakes for all whom want them in celebration of the 23 tenants who have a birthday in February and the 27 who have a b-day in January (sorry we could not have a day in January) today. They are White with Cream Cheese Icing. I am proud to say I made them. There is only a limited supply (43) so come and get them while they last. If they are not all gone by the end of the day... we will have them available tomorrow as well.

For anyone who reads this and would like to suggest what type of cupcakes for me to make next month, I welcome all the suggestions.

On a side note: I still have yet to decide whom we are going to have selling at the yard sale next month. And, the up and coming blood drive may not happen. Come to find out, you have to have at least 300 people willing to donate for them to consider to come and have one here. We will see though. I am sending out a notice to all current tenant.

1/29/12 Events for the year.

Tentative dates for planed events:

Feb 6th - Monthly birthday celebration for all the tenants whom a have birthday in February. *includes January tenants(sorry for not having one in January). Free cupcakes available in office.

March 5th- Monthly birthday celebration for all the tenants whom have a birthday in March. Free cupcakes available in office.
March 30th and 31st - Yard Sale. This is an on site yard sale for the general public to come and sell their belongings. Hours of Sale are from 9am-5:30pm. For the Sellers- we have a 3 day temporary lease for a storage unit. Prices are still in the works for the unit. Since this is a gated facility, only walking traffic will be able to enter the premises unless they have made a large purchase which can not be walked out or if they are a tenant whom has their own code to enter the property. We will be having a local restaurant cater food on premises. We are still working on which local restaurant we will be having here.

April 9th- Monthly Birthday celebration for all the tenants whom have a birthday in April. Free cupcakes available in office

April 24th and 25th-  Possible Blood Drive. TBA

May 7th- Monthly birthday celebration for all the tenants whom have a birthday in May.
May 23rd- Tenant Appreciation day. Free Chocolate chip cookies till they last in the office.

June 4th- Monthly birthday celebration for all the tenants whom have a birthday in June. Free cupcakes available in office.
June 13th- Real Estate Luncheon. Local Real Estate Firms are invited to have a Free Luncheon. Must RSVP to receive free lunch. Max TBA

July 2nd- Monthly birthday celebration for all the tenants whom have a birthday in July. Free cupcakes available in office.

August 6th- Monthly birthday celebration for all the tenants whom have a birthday in March. Free cupcakes available in office.
August 1-Sept 29th- School Supply drop off for Sponsored School. School is TBA.

September 3rd- Monthly birthday celebration for all the tenants whom have a birthday in September. Free cupcakes available in office.
September 12th- Real Estate Luncheon. Local Real Estate Firms are invited to have a Free Luncheon. Must RSVP to receive free lunch. Max TBA
